Released Chibok Girls Finally Reunite With Their Families Amidst Tears Of Joy

It was an outpour of emotions as the 21 recently released #Chibok girls reunited with their families. A church service was held in their honor on October 16th, at Abuja.

The girls were released after a series of negotiations between the Boko Haram militants and the Nigerian government. A child of about 20 months born to one of the girls was also released.

Two years ago, more than 200 young girls were abducted from their boarding school in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria by Boko Haram militants.

The release of the 21 girls aged between 16-18 years still seems so untrue. We pray and hope for the safe return of the other girls. Every girl-child deserves to be educated and free from violence. #BringBackOurGirls

Celebrating the International Day of The Girl-Child

Yesterday, October 11, was the International Day of the Girl-Child.

We celebrate all girls around the globe. We seize this opportunity to congratulate 17 year old Malala Yousafzai on her recent Nobel Peace prize win, thus making her the youngest person ever to be bestowed with such honor.

We salute the courage of Pakistani --born Malala, who  against all odds is pursuing her dream of becoming educated. She is not only pursuing her dreams, she has now become an activist for other girls who are not as fortunate as herself to achieve their own dreams. Thank you Malala!


 


We urge everyone to spare a thought and prayer for the more than 200 Nigerian girls abducted from their school by the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram, since the month of April. We pray for their safety and return to their families. These innocent girls were kidnapped just because Boko Haram is averse to education particularly female education.






Let us all join hands to protect young girls around the world particularly in Africa.

We join in the struggle to bring back the Chibok girls ALIVE. We have always supported and encouraged girl-child education through our girl-child initiatives. We will do everything within our means to ensure the African girl child is educated as we believe in the power of women and girls to bring positive change in the world. We believe in "Girl Power". It is therefore disheartening to note that some people are trying to "stop" the spread of Western education especially for girls in Nigeria.

Our hearts bleed for the innocent Chibok girls kidnapped from their school since last April in Nigeria.
