Christmas has come and gone but the families who benefitted from Save Our Needy's 3rd Annual ''Santa Comes To Visit'' initiative remain grateful for all the love we showered on them during the yuletide season.

Goodie bags comprising children's clothing, shoes, ladies clothing and shoes, toys, toiletries and food items were freely given to disadvantaged families having women as breadwinners who otherwise would not have been able to celebrate due to financial and other personal difficulties.

SON Women Entrepreneurship Program

Save Our Needy reached out to several disadvantaged women yesterday, October 31st, by empowering them with donated items to enable them start their own small businesses.

Through the SON Women Entrepreneurship Program , Save Our Needy hopes to end extreme poverty by empowering women particularly widows and single-mothers with material and/or financial donations to encourage and motivate them to become entrepreneurs thereby becoming self-reliant.
We hope to give disadvantaged women a voice because #PovertyIsSexist.

The women all had very sad stories to tell about how they have coped so far without any form of help. Some of the women we reached out to include: a single mother of 7 children who left her marriage due to domestic abuse, a single mother of 3 children aged below 5 years who was abandoned by her husband, a pregnant woman whose husband has been out of work for several years and a young single-mother of one abandoned to her fate for more than 3 years by her husband.

Through this initiative, Save Our Needy hopes to lift women up, help them take the lead and contribute to the development of the nation.

Save Our Needy Partners With PEP Stores To Support Vulnerable Women and Children

Multinational retail store, PEP Stores has joined hands with Save Our Needy to reach out to vulnerable women and children as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The retail giant has always made huge efforts to improve the lives of host communities over the years.

Since 2011, Save Our Needy has been committed to positively impacting the lives of disadvantaged women, children and young people through education, empowerment, enlightenment and community outreach programs.

A generous donation of items including clothing, toys and baby nappies worth over a million naira was presented to the Save Our Needy team represented by the CEO, Ms Marvella Odili and the Program Manager, Mr. Jerry Odili, on September 30th 2016 by the PEP Stores team (Dynamos).

Widows, single mothers and internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be the main beneficiaries of this partnership.

Ms Marvella Odili expressed great joy and appreciation to the PEP Stores team as she received the donated items.

Y.E.S Express Supports Save Our Needy

The year has started on a good note for us as the management of Y.E.S Express supermarket, Festac Town, donated food items and toiletries.

The donated items will be distributed to disadvantaged and marginalized families particularly children during SON projects aimed at fighting hunger and poverty. We support #ZeroHunger by 2030.

Saving Education

Education remains a top priority for Save Our Needy. Poverty can be greatly reduced by supporting education initiatives for disadvantaged children.

A young single mother of 4 boys, victim of domestic violence and abuse recently benefited from Save Our Needy support. Since she took courage to leave her husband several years ago due to constant abuse and lack of care for her and her children, life has not been easy for Nkechi as she shoulders all the responsibilities at home. She lives in a one-room apartment in a very disadvantaged community in Lagos State. Save Our Needy gave her a generous donation of food items, clothing for herself and her children, toiletries as well as toys when the SON team visited.

Most importantly, her son, Ifeatu Chinerem, who lost a whole school year due to financial difficulties is now able to go back to school as Save Our Needy provided his school fees.

YES; SON's New Partner

Your Essential Store (YES)  just became our new partner! We're grateful to God for starting the year on a good note.

Food items, toiletries and other basic necessities were donated to S.O.N last Friday, February 27th 2015. This is the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

These items will be distributed to beneficiaries of our projects geared towards poverty alleviation.

Thank you to the management of YES (located on 21 road Festac Town and Ikorodu, Lagos) for believing in our dream of making the world a better place for the disadvantaged; one child at a time.

Save Our Needy celebrates Project Happy Day with orphans in Ajegunle, Lagos.

In our own little way, we have once again reached out to orphans and needy children. 

More than 100 vulnerable children including children from Chosen Child Orphanage and Care Center located in Ajegunle, a disadvantaged neighborhood in Lagos State, Nigeria, benefited from "Project Happy Day" last Friday, November 21st 2014.

The SON team was warmly received by Mrs. Louisa Ayuba, the caregiver of Chosen Child Orphanage. All the lovely kids had smiles on their faces throughout the event as they were given food items, clothes, toiletries and toys by the Save Our Needy team.

A very big and sincere "Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts to the wonderful donors (who wish to remain anonymous) who generously contributed to the success of this project. You are indeed beautiful inside and outside. We thank you for your unquantifiable support and encouragement.

Remember "God loves a cheerful giver" and "givers never lack."

WIDOWS BENEFIT FROM SON YOUTH AND WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

Last Saturday, November 30^th 2013 in Benin Republic, Save Our Needy (SON), an international non-profit organization gave financial aid to several disadvantaged women to assist them set up or reinforce their various small businesses after 3 months training on shea butter production and soap making.

The beneficiaries of the project entitled ‘’SON Youth and Women Entrepreneurship Program’’ include widows, disabled women and a young school dropout.

The project is geared towards poverty alleviation. It aims to encourage more disadvantaged youth and women undertake entrepreneurship in order to become financially independent.

The CEO of Save Our Needy, Marvella Odili, implored the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds they received as there will be a follow-up on the project.

Save Our Needy Visits Wil-Wil Orphanage in Lagos

      

The Save Our Needy team gave out food and drinks last weekend to the children of Wil-Wil Orphanage, located along the Lagos, Badagry expressway.

 

 

The team was warmly welcomed by Rev. John Ndakato and his lovely wife, Grace. Well-dressed children aged between 2 and 15 came out graciously to receive food and drinks amidst smiles and gratitude.

The orphanage, though small in size is well-kept and the children are very well behaved.

The day ended well with the Reverend, his wife and the children praying for Save Our Needy.

We hope to make another visit in the near future.

"Le Quotidien" Newspaper, a widely read Benin daily, gave the event (2nd Phase of the "One Child, One Schoolbag" Project) front page news.

The 'One Child, One Schoolbag' Project (Phase 2)

Last Saturday, May 25th, Save Our Needy was at Gbodje Public Primary School, Cococodji, Benin Republic to donate schoolbags to less privileged children under the 'One Child, One Schoolbag' Project. About 100 children benefited from the project.

This is the second phase of the project initiated and launched by Save Our Needy in 2011.

The short-term vision of the 'One Child, One Schoolbag' project is to encourage children from disadvantaged homes to feel the need to attend school. 

The long-term vision is to promote education amongst children from disadvantaged homes. Save Our Needy also aims to encourage parents enroll their female children in schools.

We at Save Our Needy believe that it is only through having basic education that people can truly break the cycle of poverty. How best can we achieve that than encouraging children to attend school in the most favorable conditions?

To say the event was a success would be an understatement. Pupils of Gbodje Public Primary School thrilled the Save Our Needy team and invited guests with traditional dances and displays. Emotional 'thank you' speeches were also given by the Head teacher, Mr. Zohoungbogbo, the representative of the Parents-Teachers Association and the representative of the pupils, little Miss Esperancia Gbodogli.

Seeing the joy on the faces of the children as they received their schoolbags, was the most rewarding experience.

Save Our Needy would sincerely like to thank all the people who believed in us and in the relevance of the 'One Child, One Schoolbag' Project; all the people who contributed directly and indirectly to the success of the project.
