Fundraising for Vulnerable Families To End Poverty and Hunger

Save Our Needy has launched an online campaign to raise funds for vulnerable families mostly women and children affected by COVID-19 in order to help end poverty and hunger.

In Nigeria, millions of families live on less than $2 a day due to economic downturn. Most of these families have women as their breadwinners. They lack food, basic amenities, access to education and health facilities.

A vulnerable child

The emergence of COVID-19 has worsened an already bad situation. It has not only affected the health of thousands of women and children, it has also had a devastating effect on the finances of women who have lost their small businesses or jobs, putting them in a vulnerable situation.

Itegbin community

Save Our Needy hopes to reach out to 50 families in Itegbin community, Okokomaiko, a disadvantaged, riverine community affected by climate change and poverty. We hope to provide them with food and care packages as well as empower them with the tools and knowledge to fight poverty, climate change (environmental degradation) and hunger through free training.

KINDLY DONATE TO OUR CAUSE TO SAVE LIVES. THANK YOU.

Celebrating ALL women on Women's Day

International Women's Day, celebrated on the 8th of March, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. This year's theme is Each For Equal. The IWD 2020 campaign theme is drawn from a notion of 'Collective Individualism.'

An equal world is an enabled world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world.

Women's equality can't wait. It's going to take everyone to think and be inclusive - all the time, everywhere so take action NOW.

Let's all be #EachforEqual.

Save Our Needy Launches Girls LEAD Challenge

As a follow-up to our Girls LEAD (Leadership, Advocacy, Education and Development) Program, we have launched the Girls LEAD Challenge.

Girls LEAD Program is designed to empower marginalized girls with knowledge and skills to develop leadership qualities and become self-reliant.

We support girl-child education and the advancement of girls' rights. Through our education programs, we are building the skills and leadership capacity of marginalized girls. We want girls to rule their world.

Are you a girl aged between 12-17? Do you attend a public school in Nigeria? Would you like to become a leader in your community? Do you wish to be known as a changemaker?  Have you noticed issues in your community you will like to change?  Would you like your innovative idea to be rewarded?

If you answered yes to all these questions, then this is your chance to make your dream come true. Apply for Girls LEAD Challenge and get the opportunity to win $250, $150 or $100.

Tell us in 300 words how you can bring change to your community in an innovative way.

Submit all applications to girlslead@saveourneedy.org

Application closes April 30th.

Good luck!
