One Wish Granted Project

December 29th 2014 was very memorable for us as we were able to grant the wish of a little disadvantaged girl, Lateefah.

She was full of smiles and excitement as she cut her birthday cake surrounded by friends and family.







6 year old Lateefah has never had the opportunity to celebrate her birthday. She lost her parents at age 3 and since then, she has been living with her old grandparents who can barely afford to feed her
along with her siblings.

A very big THANK YOU to Prisca of Cayla Cakes, Lagos, for donating Lateefah's beautiful cake.

Save Our Needy Plays Santa To Disadvantaged Families

From Dec 21st to 28th, we played Santa to 7 disadvantaged families in
the spirit of Christmas. These families have never had cause to
celebrate the Yuletide season due to financial constraints and other unfortunate circumstances.

It was exciting and fulfilling as the SON team visited the beneficiaries in their homes and brought them love and cheer in form of food items, clothing, toiletries and gifts for the kids.

The beneficiaries particularly single mothers and widows as well as their children were full of gratitude for the love they got from us.


 


We sincerely thank Stella Dimoko Korkus, arguably Nigeria's favorite blogger for using her blog as a medium to support this project.  We will also like to thank Mr. Andrew O. Akindele and an anonymous donor under the alias of "bosslordd" for financially contributing to the success of this project. May the good Lord continue to bless you and replenish your pockets. Verdant Zeal Supports Save Our Needy

We are happy to announce we have a new partner! The staff of Verdant Zeal, a Communications company, donated used clothes to the Save Our Needy team last week Friday, November 27th 2014. The clothes received will be given to disadvantaged and needy people in the course of SON's outreach programs.

Save Our Needy Celebrates World AIDS Day

We joined the world in celebrating World AIDS Day on Monday, December 1st.

One of the main objectives of Save Our Needy is to create awareness
for killer diseases including HIV and AIDS, and also provide support
(financial and material) to disadvantaged people particularly youth
and women suffering from these diseases.

For this reason, the S.O.N team reached out on World AIDS Day to young
people and women in Ojo, a neighborhood in Lagos State. Flyers,
condoms (male and female) and t-shirts were distributed to people (
sex workers,students, market women, etc) to mark the day.

AIDS is Still Taking Lives. Protect yourself. "Get Condomised." Say NO
to Multiple Sex Partners.

Remember...Safe sex is good but Abstinence is better.

UNICEF launches #IMAGINE Project

Thursday, November 20th 2014 became a special date on the global
calendar as UNICEF launched the #IMAGINE campaign in New York City to
celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Convention on the rights of a
child.

The campaign, which included a re-recording of John Lennon's classic
song "Imagine" led by Yoko Ono, is intended to help raise awareness of
children's rights.

We are so proud of Don Jazzy (real name, Michael Collins Ajereh),
Nigerian multiple award-winning producer and artiste who performed on
stage alongside renowned artistes including Angelique Kidjo, Brazilian
songwriter Daniela Mercury, Swedish-Iranian pop sensation Laleh
Pourkarim, cellist Trey Lee from Hong Kong and Kristian Kostov, the
winner of the Russian The Voice.

The event hosted by Golden Globe and award-winning actor, Hugh
Jackman, brought together some of the world's biggest names in music,
film, fashion and entertainment. Katy Perry, Steve Harvey, David
Guetta, Idris Elba, Courtney Cox, Nicole Scherzinger, Yoko Ono and
Priyanka Chopra were all there to lend their support.

#IMAGINE Project aims to create a unique moment in music history that
highlights the tremendous challenges children face the world over.

Everyone who records the song has the chance to have their vocals and
videos used in the UNICEF version of Imagine and in the accompanying
interactive music video, which will be released in the lead up to New
Year's Eve 2014.


IMAGINE participants can share their own recording of Lennon's classic
song with friends and family on social media and encourage others to
perform Imagine too. They can also record personal messages describing
what they imagine a better world for children would be like.

Save Our Needy celebrates Project Happy Day with orphans in Ajegunle, Lagos.

In our own little way, we have once again reached out to orphans and needy children. 

More than 100 vulnerable children including children from Chosen Child Orphanage and Care Center located in Ajegunle, a disadvantaged neighborhood in Lagos State, Nigeria, benefited from "Project Happy Day" last Friday, November 21st 2014.

The SON team was warmly received by Mrs. Louisa Ayuba, the caregiver of Chosen Child Orphanage. All the lovely kids had smiles on their faces throughout the event as they were given food items, clothes, toiletries and toys by the Save Our Needy team.

A very big and sincere "Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts to the wonderful donors (who wish to remain anonymous) who generously contributed to the success of this project. You are indeed beautiful inside and outside. We thank you for your unquantifiable support and encouragement.

Celebrating the International Day of The Girl-Child

Yesterday, October 11, was the International Day of the Girl-Child.

We celebrate all girls around the globe. We seize this opportunity to congratulate 17 year old Malala Yousafzai on her recent Nobel Peace prize win, thus making her the youngest person ever to be bestowed with such honor.

We salute the courage of Pakistani --born Malala, who  against all odds is pursuing her dream of becoming educated. She is not only pursuing her dreams, she has now become an activist for other girls who are not as fortunate as herself to achieve their own dreams. Thank you Malala!


 


We urge everyone to spare a thought and prayer for the more than 200 Nigerian girls abducted from their school by the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram, since the month of April. We pray for their safety and return to their families. These innocent girls were kidnapped just because Boko Haram is averse to education particularly female education.






Let us all join hands to protect young girls around the world particularly in Africa.
